So much for blogging more.\u00a0 It’s been just over a month and I haven’t put fingers to keyboard.\u00a0 Whoops.<\/p>\n

However, it’s not been all fails.\u00a0 The busy times have started.\u00a0 Dual event weekend back in mid Feb with Millstream Road.<\/a>\u00a0 Nice piece of gravel road up near Dannevirke.
\nLesson learned from this particular event.\u00a0 Actually a couple.\u00a0 Double check the route the GPS is trying to take you on.\u00a0 And make sure the vehicle has enough fuel.\u00a0 Not the race car this time either.\u00a0 Nearly ran the Ranger out of diesel.\u00a0 Apparently it doesn’t like that very much as it cut out twice on the desperately gentle crawl back to Dannevirke where I put 68 litres into a 70 litre tank.\u00a0 Whoops. Not gonna do that again.\u00a0 Probably.<\/p>\n

Second event for the weekend was a grass autocross at Tauherenikau with two different courses over the day.\u00a0 Sarah also had a drive at that one and did really well, coming in 11th on the first course<\/a>.\u00a0 Unfortunately due to having to leave early, she didn’t get the chance to put down a fast time on the second course<\/a> but still ended up with an awesome final result given she only drives the race car occasionally.\u00a0 I managed a good result with some consistent placings in both runs (first<\/a> course, second<\/a> course) and ended up first in class and I think, 3rd overall.\u00a0 Unfortunately the next two rounds of that autocross series clash with gravel events I’m already booked to go to so hopefully Harbour Capital Car Club can organise another series later in the year.<\/p>\n

That was the first weekend I’ve trailered the race car to events so that’s been an interesting experience.\u00a0 Resulted in upgrading the front brake pads in the Ranger so hopefully it’ll stop a little better now.\u00a0 But it towed nicely.\u00a0 Makes a difference getting the car positioned correctly on the trailer to balance it properly.\u00a0 Thanks to Garry at Upper Hutt Hire<\/a> for the loan of the trailer.\u00a0 Go see them if you need a trailer, or in fact most equipment and party hire stuff.<\/p>\n

The last two weekends involved first aid events with the rescue team.\u00a0 Karapoti Classic<\/a> was first up with what is always a very long day out in the Karapoti bush.\u00a0 The team proved it’s worth with a couple of injuries serious enough to require evacuation of the patients.
\nUpper Hutt Summer Carnival was last weekend and Summer finally turned up to join the party.\u00a0 A fairly low key event from a first aid point of view but still, those who did have reason to come see us were glad we were there.<\/p>\n

Coming up in the next couple of weekends are Pattison Rd gravel sprint this weekend, somewhere in the middle of nowhere near Waipukurau.\u00a0 Then the Clubsport National Champs in Taupo the following weekend.\u00a0 That consists of a motorkhana, autocross and sprint with the overall champion decided at the end of the weekend.\u00a0 Two away events in a row.\u00a0 Fun times.<\/p>\n
